The Mandaleigh Studios was opened in 1978 by our Principal, Miss Leigh. The school soon grew with branches across Fareham. Miss Leigh was an ISTD examiner alongside running Mandaleigh so was very busy!
Between 1978-2015 The Mandaleigh Studios’ home was 1st Catisfield Scout HQ in Fareham. In the first few years, classes were also held at The W.I. in Fareham and also in Miss Leigh’s garage which was adapted to become a home studio!
In 2009, Miss Ali began to teach alongside Miss Leigh and in 2010 opened a Saturday School at Northwest Community Centre.
Mandaleigh staff have always entered students for I.S.T.D. examinations and have always achieved high, consistent marks. Bi-annually, Mandaleigh presents a showcase for all students to participate in and also compete in a variety of competitions including The British Arts Awards and other festivals. All students are invited to compete in their class groups and students who have a private lesson are invited to compete with solos and duets.
Many Mandaleigh pupils have gone on to have very successful careers within the theatre industry and in other career paths too. Many pupils leave Mandaleigh and continue their training at dance/performance colleges such as Arts Educational, Laine Theatre Arts, Performers College and many more.
In 2015, Miss Leigh and Miss Ali obtained their own premises for The Mandaleigh Studios in the heart of Fareham town centre and in 2023 relocated into Mandaleigh’s current home. Mandaleigh boasts 3 beautiful studios, changing area, drinks dispense area and toilet facilities. All 3 studios are fully equipped with sprung flooring, Harlequin dance flooring, mirrors, ballet barres and lots of equipment such as stretch bands, exercise balls, yoga blocks, balance boards and much more!
Our studios are based on West Street, in the heart of Fareham. You can sign up for an initial taster period and just pay weekly whilst you try our dance classes.
